There was once a girl named Mira who lived in a small village surrounded by mountains in Arunachal Pradesh. She was known as the “dream chaser” because she always talked about wanting to see what was beyond the mountains. While other kids spent their time playing games or working in the fields with their families, Mira would sit and stare at the peaks in the distance, wondering what was out there.
Every day, she asked her father, “What’s beyond the mountains?”
And he would always answer, “It’s a big world out there, Mira, far bigger than our little village. But no one here has ever gone to see it.”
That wasn’t good enough for Mira. She didn’t want to live her whole life in one place. She had dreams of traveling, seeing new places, and meeting new people. She wanted more than the quiet life in the village. So, she made up her mind—she was going to leave and explore what lay beyond the mountains.
One early morning, while the village was still asleep, Mira packed a small bag with some food, a blanket, and a silver necklace that had belonged to her mother. It was her most treasured item, the only thing that reminded her of her mom, who had passed away a few years ago.
With everything ready, Mira set off towards the mountains. The air was cool, and she could feel the excitement bubbling up inside her. She walked for hours, climbing up steep paths and crossing streams. The village soon disappeared behind her, and for the first time in her life, Mira felt completely free.
But the higher she climbed, the harder it got. The air was thinner, and the path became rocky and dangerous. After walking the whole day, she came across an old man sitting by a small fire near the edge of a cliff.
“You’ve come a long way,” the old man said, looking at her with kind eyes.
Mira was surprised. “How do you know?”
“I’ve seen many like you,” he said, smiling. “Dreamers. People who want to see what lies beyond.”
Mira sat down next to him, her legs aching from all the walking. “I want to see the world,” she said. “I want to know what’s out there.”
The old man chuckled. “The world is a beautiful place, full of wonders, but also challenges. You have to be ready for both. Are you sure you know what you’re chasing?”
Mira hesitated. No one had ever asked her that before. “I just… I want more than this village. I want to live a bigger life.”
The old man nodded. “That’s a good reason. But remember, sometimes, the journey itself is the real adventure, not just the destination.”
The next morning, Mira continued her journey. The climb got steeper, and she found herself exhausted at times, but she never gave up. She had to see what was beyond the mountains. She had to find out if the world was as amazing as she had imagined.
Days passed, and the climb became harder. Mira crossed rivers, climbed over rocks, and spent cold nights under the stars. But she was determined. She couldn’t stop now, not when she was so close.
Finally, after days of traveling, she reached the top of the tallest mountain. As she stood there, the view took her breath away. Below her, she could see a huge world—endless forests, rolling hills, and, far in the distance, a shimmering city. It was more beautiful than anything she had ever imagined.
Mira smiled. She had done it. She had chased her dream, and now she could see the world beyond.
But something strange happened. As she stood there, looking at the incredible view, she realized that the journey to get here had been just as important as the destination. She remembered all the people she had met, the challenges she had faced, and the lessons she had learned along the way.
Maybe, she thought, the old man was right. The dream wasn’t just about reaching the city or seeing the world beyond the mountains. It was also about the adventure of getting there.
With a new sense of understanding, Mira began her descent down the other side of the mountain, ready to explore the new world in front of her. She wasn’t in a rush anymore. She knew she would reach the city one day, but for now, she wanted to enjoy every step of the journey.
And so, Mira, the dream chaser, kept walking, knowing that no matter where she went, she was living her dream.
